Brooks and D-Niro Off to a Great Start at NEDA CDI-W

September-20-11

Saugerties, New York - Sept 18, 2011.   Last spring, when Jacqueline Brooks started working with D-Niro, Brookhaven's new Swedish Warmblood gelding by D-Day out of Alitalia, she was unsure when they would be ready to start their international Grand Prix career. Now she has her answer.

This weekend, competing at his first CDI - W, D-Niro was the top Canadian horse in both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle placing third in the freestyle. As well, Gran Gesto, Brooks' 16 year old 2008 Olympic Partner placed immediately behind D-Niro in the Grand Prix and was second and top Canadian horse in the Grand Prix Special.

"I am very pleased with D-Niro's progress," Brooks said. "He is showing steady improvement in training and our partnership in the ring has only just begun".

Brooks also added, " I couldn't be happier with Gran Gesto. He just keeps wanting to compete. I am putting any plans I had to retire him off until he tells me he wants to stop."
