D Niro

Swedish warmblood ( b.1999 - D Day, Alitalia) 

D Niro was purchased by Brookhaven Dressage in March 2011. He was training the Grand Prix movements but had only competed at Prix St Georges. Jacquie felt there was something special about the 12 year old grey that could be developed. She knew he was a long shot for the London Games but felt she should at least see what they could accomplish as a team. She was delighted when, after only 6 months together and at his second CDI Grand Prix, he won a first at the prestigious Dressage@Devon.

For the next 3 months Jacquie worked daily with him on what she dubbed his "accelerated training program". By January she felt he was ready for the tough Florida pre-olympic circuit. From January 2012 until June 2012 they competed in 12 CDIs, improving continually ending with two firsts at the final Canadian Olympic Qualifier at Blainville in June. To Jacquie's delight this win secured a spot on the Canadian Olympic Team in Dressage.
